At Great Commission Missionary School, we value the safety and well-being of our students. 

At GCMS our goal is to create an atmosphere for every student to be successful. We make every effort in meeting our students’ needs and providing them with necessary accommodations. We want to prevent issues that could possibly get in the way of our students’ progress and growth in the school. For us to achieve this, we ask that all students disclose the following information during their admission process and prior to their arrival:

• Serious health issues (physical or mental)

• All prescribed medication

• Prior or current issues with drugs

• Probation or other serious conditions with authorities

• Relationships (engagement, marital status, etc)

• Anything else that may create a need for special accommodation by the school administration

Please note the conditions listed above do not result in the student's automatic disqualification, but deliberate failure to disclose important information can result in student's termination after enrollment at which point they may not be ineligible for a refund.

Great Commission Missionary School regulations are generated to fit the best interest of our students and staff.

PLACE OF RESIDENCE

• Students are responsible for maintaining their residence house in cleanliness and organization.

• Events can only be organized by students with prior permission from the house leader.

• Students must spend the night in the home allotted for their residence.

APPEARANCE AND DRESS CODE

• School campus and church dress code is business casual or formal (unless otherwise noted). 

Male Students:

- Not permitted to wear hats, shorts, jeans, sweat pants, t-shirts, hoodies.

- Should be neatly dressed, with their shirts tucked.

Female Students:

- Are not allowed to wear pants, mini-skirts, skirts with high slits, blouses with a deep neckline and hoodies.

- Manicures and/or pedicures can only be in natural colors.

• Students are not allowed to wear (including on-site of residence): earrings, chains and extravagant decorations/accessories.

• Unusual hairstyles and hair colors are prohibited.

• Students should always look neat in accordance with Christian ethics.

SCHOOL CAMPUS

• Students must not disrupt discipline established by the teacher or other school authority.

• Use of telephone, tablet, laptop or other Internet enabled device are not permitted for the duration of the program.

• Students are required to be punctual in all school related activities.

• Forbidden behavior:

– Leaving the class during lecture without the teacher’s permission.

– Talking to other students during lectures.

– Sleeping during organized school activities.

– Eating (except for a small snack) or chewing gum during class.

– Students can not leave school property without prior approval of a staff member (not teacher).

RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STUDENTS

• Students must respect opinions, beliefs and traditions of other students.

• Forbidden behavior:

– Vulgar words and expressions.

– Fights and the use of physical force in settling disputes.

– Theft.

• It is forbidden for students of the opposite sex to:

– Hug each other or have other physical contact except for a hand shake.

– Have dates during the course of study. 

– Flirt, text and engage in intimate conversations. 

MEASURES OF DISCIPLINE

• Violation of rules or orders will result in disciplinary actions.

• Serious violation or repeated minor violation will result in written warning.

• Students will be terminated if serious (or repeated minor) violation occurs after the written warning.

• In the case of major violation of Christian morals (use of physical force, sexual immorality, theft, consumption of drugs or alcohol, etc.) administration reserves the right to terminate such student without a warning.

• If a student drops out of the program on personal initiative, or is terminated as a result of disciplinary action, school fees will not be refunded.

• School administration reserves the right to contact parents or church leaders at any time.

• In the event of any misconduct, administration reserves the right to refuse participation in the evangelical, mid-semester trip.

OTHER

• Students must conform to the established daily schedule.

• Students are not allowed to listen to secular music and watch movies that don't comply with Christian moral standards.

• Students have full responsibility for the safety of school materials and equipment.

• Great Commission Missionary School is not financially responsible for:

– Medical fees and expenses of the students during their course of study (in the event of illness, injury or car accident).

– Damage of school equipment.

– Lost, stolen or damaged personal property.

• Reckless / illegal driving of a vehicle is prohibited.

• Use of telephone, tablet, laptop or other Internet enabled device are not permitted for the duration of the program.

• Energy drinks are not allowed anywhere on school property and are prohibited during the course of study.

• School staff have the right to check student's personal belongings without prior notice at any time.

• Students can be requested a drug or tobacco test if staff finds it necessary.

• Students with prior drug addiction or other serious offenses may be subject to additional rules.

• Rules are subject to change.

The following is a list of items each student will need to have before they arrive at the school.

Students need to be prepared for their stay at Great Commission Missionary School. Following is a list of items each student will need to have before they arrive to the school.

School Supplies

• Bible (Russian or English)

• Concordance (Optional)

• Notebooks, pens, pencils, etc.

Personal Items

• Items of personal hygiene (Towels, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc)

• School clothing (Dress code: business casual or same as church clothes)

• Sports clothing, water bottle

• Warm clothing and rain coat

• Shoes for church, hiking and recreation

• Backpack

• Cash for personal needs

Please Note Students should try to limit personal belongings to one carry-on bag and no more than one large bag (not exceeding 40 lbs). Space is limited, so we encourage students to take the minimum of what they think they might need.

Can we bring our cars?

Majority of the time the students ride together in the 15-seater vans, which are owned by the school and included in the tuition. Students are allowed to bring their personal vehicle but we would like to note that fuel expense for personal cars is not included in the tuition.

What is our schedule like? Will I have time to work and / or hangout on weekends?

The next few months of student life will be quite busy with many activities including: lectures, ministry opportunities, trips, fellowships or adventures. There are a few weekends that will be free for catching up on school work, relaxing and exploring PNW.

Can my family visit me? Can I take trips home?

Although being a student on the program is a commitment and will keep you quite busy most days, we would love for you to see your family, and we would especially love to meet them as well. We just ask that you speak with staff for what days you plan to be away. See rules for more details.

How are the living arrangements for each house?

We have two residences where students live, one for males and one for females. Each residence is equipped with bunk beds and students will be assigned a bunk and closet space (for personal belongings) upon arrival.

How much money should I bring with me?

Your tuition will cover all program events, class time, living arrangements, transportation and meals. All other personal expenses such as snacks, personal hygiene items, school supplies, personal outings, etc. will not be included in the tuition cost. Also, the Mexico / States trip during the course of the semester is not included in the tuition. Bring as much as you see fit for personal expenses.

What is significant about Great Commission Missionary School?

Past students always mention that the biggest contribution to their spiritual growth was the family atmosphere that was cultivated at GCMS. We have a dedicated team of staff members that reside with the students, which allows for daily prayer support and counsel; with the goal of bringing the gospel to each student and equipping them as future ministers and missionaries. Just as in the Book of Acts, together we learn how to grow in doctrine, abide in fellowship, break bread and pray consistently.
